Several successful events have kept San Rafael Clean humming along this year. Earth Day on April 25 was a great collaboration with Marin County Parks & Open Space, Center for Volunteer and Nonprofit Leadership, North Bay Conservation Corps and several other participating agencies. Two locations at the Canal and McInnis Park brought out a total of 193 volunteers, including 61 youth and 25 AmeriCorps members, for 399 hours at a value of $11,030 in donated time.

Thanks to the outreach efforts by the Concilio of Canal Alliance, many volunteers spontaneously came from the neighborhood to see what was going on and volunteered on the spot, giving an impetus to a repeat performance next year.
