SPOTLITE ON……..
Libby McQuiston
| Libby McQuiston has been
waging a war on litter since she and her dog,
Gus, walked along Ocean Beach in
San Francisco more than eight years
ago. And since moving to Marin, she has
continued the battle in San Rafael,
particularly, her Loch Lomond neighborhood.
Tireless in her efforts, Libby has become a
vocal anti-litter advocate, constantly removing
litter from the waterways and beaches in Marin. Upon her discovery that
Loch Lomond lacked a recycling program, she
instigated and organized a very successful
recycling program that is alive and well in the
marina today. She has participated in
California Coastal Cleanup Day, a premier
volunteer event occurring in over 700 cleanup
sites statewide, as well as the somewhat smaller
but no less important, “Dog Walker’s Poop
Cleanup”, organized by Libby and held last
October. |

At present, Libby is a
coalition member of the newly created volunteer
organization called San Rafael Clean, acting as
its Chair of Activities and Special Projects. By
her exemplary action, her persistent dedication
and her crusade to clean up the environment,
Libby is making a significant impact on San
Rafael and its residents.
Also, Libby, an active and
vital participant with the San Rafael Clean
Coalition since its inception in 2005, has
participated in all the City cleanups, has
distributed thousands of cigarette butt
containers throughout the community and is
tireless in her campaign against litter. |
